Design Team call

As one digital challenge blog sadly closes, a lovely bright shiny new one appears -

digitally made challenges

They're shouting out for Design Team members, I would love to be one but my hours at work have increased and I'm finding it difficult to fit any crafting in, but I'm definitely going to be joining in with their challenges which start in May.

Four Legged Friends

image from 'Summer Card Toppers' pt 1 from Gecko Galz
6x6 green card blank
Laurence Llewyln Bowen patterned vellum
Taupe gems

I love how this card turned out, nothing was planned I just wanted to use a piece of LLB's vellum, didn't know which one but this matched the fret work on the image well.
Adding the little cut off pieces vertically finished off the card, which went to my February swap partner over at CardExhange UK on Yahoo groups.

Babies & Children / week 273 & 274

Over on the Gecko Galz facebook page, this is one of the challenges. I chose to go with children, as I tend to get 'card-tied' with anything to do with babies, maybe its because I'm not maternal.... show me a baby animal and I go all gooey.

Kept the card plain and simple as I thought the image worked well on its own.

Also cheekily entering in Pixies Snippets playground week 273/274 as the pink ribbon was a snippet left over from the depth of time.

Edges and mint green

Didn't think I'd get time to do something for the current Butterfly challenge, if I have odd day off I don't get to craft much, but if the days off fall together I seem to be more organised.

Done something digital today, so can enter into two challenges.

Done in pastel colours to co-ordinate with the mint green butterfly, using a Butterfly digi kit. Plenty of tweaking and fading of things, so not going to go into details like I usually do.
I like this so much I'm going to buy a small box frame and hang it up somewhere, as a gentle reminder that its ok when things change, you just need to adapt.

entering in:Butterfly challenge = E for edges and/or mint green

and onto the 2nd challenge, with a heavy heart as its the very last challenge from this lovely Digital blog. Everyone on the DT and all the participants are lovely people and create some amazing projects, it will be a shame not too have this inspiration anymore.

entered into: Digitally Sweet = anything goes

Christmas light post & playground 271/272

Having no compter (crashed) or proper internet access, using my phone. I couldn't shop around for any suitable Christmas digi stamps, so had to drag out my old Decoupage folder and hope that there was a suitable light post image. Luckily there was, I just used the base image as my topper.

I had already printed out some free backing papers from a card magazine over Christmas, these included some Hunkdory, Crafters Companion and Joanna Sheen. The one i used is from Hunkdory (I think).

Kept it quite simple colour wise, the white card is a snippet from a patterned card turned over which I have used for die cutting in the past. Using sky blue promarker, I coloured in the white snowflake and then stuck a white pearl in the middle.
For a ribbon effect, I cut out the words of the song from the backing paper...another little snippet.

Glossy accents and/or Slate Blue

Got messy today making this card. Decided to make my own Slate Blue colour by mixing black, white and blue acrylic paint together, surprisingly it actually worked, though it looks quite dark & black in the photo - better seen in reality.
I used a mask I got free with a magazine, it didn't turn out like I expected - the paint wad a bit too thick for the pattern using a paint brush, so I used a tiny bit of sponge and dabbed through the mask instead, end result more likd I wanted.

Rooting around in my butterfly drawer, I came acrosss a holographic peel off sticker I received years ago in a swap which fit perfectly in the middle of the design, also used the 4 matching butterflies in the corners.

The butterfly topper is part of a Sizzix die set which I won a few challenges ago. I accidently put a hole through it when i was peeling it away from the die, hence the blue gems.

The only thing I didn't do was the Glossy accents part of the challenge.
