Feature Day @ Gecko Galz

Today is my day to feature my Design Team project for the month of June over at Gecko Galz.

I've chosen to stick with the monthly theme of Good Old Summertime and made two bright, colourful fun atc's. (bit addicted to these at the moment!)

I cut two images out of Beauties by the Bay design sheet, and used the paper from a free kit I had with a magazine, the paper sentiments were from a swap I did with a card group I'm in, the sun was die cut from a piece of mulberry style paper.

I hope you'll join our Good Old Summertime challenge where the winner will receive a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.
The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product, which can be something you purchased from the shop or a freebie.
If you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the Super Sunday Deals!
Why don't you pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see all the fabulous designs by the very talented Design Team, don't forget to grab the free digi stamp on each post!
We also have a Facebook Group where there are more monthly challenges for you to play in, each with a Design Sheet to win.

Pearl Wedding Anniversary

Funny how having a conversation about a colouring app on a phone, led me to getting commissioned to make a Pearl Wedding Anniversary card.

I wanted to use this embossing folder, but couldn't decide on what to do with it, so after loosing about an hour in Pinterest looking for inspiration, I was still none the wiser! So I decided to wing it and did the design step by step, it sort of made itself, though I did get carried away with the pearls again....
the edging was a border die cut into two. The large flower came from The craft Box and the others from my stash.

Many, many pearls later, it was finished, I decided to do a box for it as sticking it in an envelope would have squashed everything, so I decided to google how to make a box...… square, triangle, A4...…. many many pages later.…. I found  this ladies tutorial and it was easy to understand and do!! So I tried it in thin card first, then once it actually looked like a box, I redid it in a thicker creamier card and it folded a lot easier and neater.

Only thing was, it looked a bit boring just plain, so I used the middle of the border I cut into, and die cut two little hearts and stuck two heart gems on them. Just enough to make it look pretty.  The last touch was to put some white crepe paper in the bottom of the box.

Best Friends

When I was making my samples for the Gecko Galz  'Good Old Summertime' this month, I accidently printed this image bigger than it should have been so I put it to one side hoping to use it sometime.

I cut it down to a useable size, then fit the card round it. Using the one paper pack 'Summer Bloom' by Docrafts, I matched the coloured spotty paper and the zesty green background paper with the heart embellishment. The pink spotty paper came from my stash. To finish I used this gorgeous zesty lime flower and popped a sentiment in the middle.
I wanted to use some lime coloured gems but couldn't find any, so remembered the Nuvo Vintage Drops 'Pioneer Green' which luckily matched.

Its time to celebrate!

A quick 6x6 card today for a monthly swap over at CardExchangePhotos on Facebook, we're a small group who swap cards monthly, with optional swaps like atcs or themed cards.

I found this pink spotty backing paper in my stash when I was looking for something else to match another card. In the end I used it for both cards. The topper came from Hunkydory Topper Decks 'All Occasions' which was gifted to me in one of the present swaps we do at Card Exchange, I simply backed it with a purple card and used it as the focal point. Large white pearls and a white bow finished it all off

Hello...

… is it me you're looking for?

Sorry, couldn't resist, every time I see this stamp I channel Lionel Ritchie.

This is an A5 card, and it nearly ended up as a keeper as I love it, but I made it for a swap so its been posted.... hope the recipient likes it as much as I do! Might just have to do another one.

All papers came from 'Antique Pinks' 8x8 paper kit from The Works. They were all oddments so I just played with them till it came together. The oval die cut is light grey card from Wilko's, I stamped the hello in Hot Pink pigment ink by Dovecraft. Confession time, I actually ripped the oval when I was removing it out of its die so I popped the flowers on to cover the little rip up, you'd never know! The white flowers were coloured in with promarkers - Cool Grey 4 & Rose Pink, I also edged the papers with them.

Good Old Summertime

A new month means a new Customer Challenge at the Gecko Galz and the theme for the month of June -

So why not play along - join the challenge with the chance to win $25 at the Gecko Galz shop!

The past month or so, here in the UK, has been a mix of both beach weather and April showers! I'm still sporting a tan from the Easter Holidays, not intentional - did plenty of walking during my week off, If go outside the garden I either sit in the shade or wear a sun hat. I'm as pale as pale can be and I hate the heat. Having said that the past few weeks, I have enjoyed the sun as its meant I could get in the garden and greenhouse, seeding and planting flowers and some veg. All looking green at the moment!

My first sample is for the Good Old Summertime challenge is a Digital Page, using an image from Beauties from the Bay and a vintage postcard image, the sentiment is by Rosie H. The colours just go together, and I love the styles of the swimming costumes, not like todays where every bit of flesh has to be exposed if it can be!

my second sample is an A5 card, using an image from Summertime Fun and scraps of patterned paper, the sentiment is from a sheet I've had for years, kept in the hope of one day using it! Roller skating never appealed to me, it would have been like bambi on ice if I had given it a go.

my third sample is a 6x6 card using an image again, from Summertime Fun, a sentiment I made in CAP2 and some yellow die cut card, I originally was going to use the larger piece as a frame and pop the photo inside, on the white card blank, but then decided to make a smaller piece to use as the frame,  then I decided to use both together and twist one. Love this cheeky chappie.
Another DT member has also used this image and sentiment, can't wait to see her make!!

I hope you'll join in 'Good Old Summertime' Challenge, where the Winner gets a $25 shopping spree to spend at the Gecko Galz shop. (The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product... this can be one of the freebies, or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy shop).
